Stoic Resilience Week
Goal
Strengthen your capacity to face adversity with 7 days of practical Stoic exercises, each under 5 minutes.
Day 1 — Dichotomy of control
Micro-habit: At the first frustration of the day, write two columns: "Depends on me" / "Doesn't depend on me". Act only on the first.
Duration: 1 minute.
Quote: "Do the best you can with what you have, where you are." — Epictetus
Day 2 — Premeditatio malorum
Micro-habit: On waking, spend 60 seconds imagining you lose something you value. Then be grateful you still have it.
Duration: 1 minute.
Quote: "It is not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste much of it." — Seneca
Day 3 — Memento mori
Micro-habit: Before a difficult decision, ask yourself: "If I only had a year left to live, would I do this?". Write the answer down.
Duration: 1 minute.
Quote: "Think on death, and you will live more fully." — Marcus Aurelius
Day 4 — Voluntary discomfort
Micro-habit: Do something uncomfortable on purpose: a 30-second cold shower, skipping a coffee, sitting on the floor.
Duration: 30 seconds - 2 minutes.
Quote: "It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult." — Seneca
Day 5 — Evening examination
Micro-habit: Before bed, answer: (1) What did I do well? (2) Where can I improve? (3) Did I act according to my values?
Duration: 90 seconds.
Quote: "Examine your life without mercy, but with compassion." — Marcus Aurelius
Day 6 — Amor fati
Micro-habit: Faced with the day's most significant obstacle, say: "This is exactly what I needed in order to grow."
Duration: 10 seconds.
Quote: "The impediment to action advances action." — Marcus Aurelius
Day 7 — The 4 virtues, integrated
Micro-habit: Choose one virtue to practice consciously today: Wisdom, Justice, Courage or Temperance. At the end of the day, assess how you practiced it.
Duration: 2 minutes (intention + reflection).
Quote: "Virtue is its own reward." — Epictetus
Closing reflection
Stoicism isn't insensitivity; it's inner freedom. After 7 days, you have a mental toolkit that entire civilizations used to face wars, pandemics and losses. Use it for whatever life brings you.
