Break the habit of chronic complaining: turn a sterile complaint into action, a request or acceptance.
Micro-habits to get started
Small actions of a few minutes to start this habit:
Count your complaints
During the day, simply notice every time you complain. Don't judge yourself, just count them.
What isn't seen doesn't change. The number is usually surprising.
1 minThe three questions
Faced with a complaint, ask yourself: can I change it? am I telling the person who can help? am I looking for a solution or just venting?
If the answers are 'no', it's a sterile complaint: let it go.
1 minTurn the complaint into action
Swap 'this is a disaster' for 'what can I do' or a concrete request to the right person.
And if it genuinely doesn't depend on you, accept it: complaining only adds suffering.
