Breathing for the voice

Train diaphragmatic breathing and breath support for a firm, steady voice with presence.
Micro-habits to get started
Small actions of a few minutes to start this habit:
Diaphragmatic breathing
With one hand on your belly, breathe in through your nose so the belly expands (not the chest) and breathe out slowly through your mouth. Repeat 5 times.
If your shoulders rise, you're breathing shallowly: take the air down into the belly.
3 minThe sustained 's'
Breathe in deeply and breathe out on a long, constant 's', as even and prolonged as you can manage.
This trains support: the control of the outgoing air that holds the voice up.
2 minBreathe before speaking
Before an important talk or call, take one low, calm breath.
You give your first sentence fuel and steadiness, and settle your nerves along the way.
